Details of the ATX Safety Squat Bar (SSB):
The Safety Squat Bar is designed with a perfect angle to distribute the load more effectively and allow for a squat with a more upright back. This variation of the squat is commonly known as an SSB Squat. While the primary purpose of the Safety Squat Bar is to accommodate individuals with shoulder issues, it can also be beneficial for those with limited upper limb mobility. In either case, it is worth considering the Leg Blaster Squat as an alternative, although it may be less readily available for purchase.
Features of the Safety Squat Bar:
- Made of thick-walled steel tubes with a diameter of 48.5mm. NB: Bar ends are 50mm, so works with normal olympic collars!
- Fully welded design, heavy loads up to 300kg.
- Comfortable and safe to use with the handles.
- The shoulders and elbows are less affected.
- Robust and sturdy padding in the neck and shoulders.
- The shoulders and elbows are less affected.
- SSB has padding on traps/ shoulder area, for comfort.
- Handles out front, for ease and comfort.
- Fits olympic-width racks. Pictured with the Warrior Power Rack.
- Product weight approx. 16kg.
- NB: Suitable for use with olympic weights & collars. Sold separately.
Aside from an SSB Squat, other exercises the Safety Squat Bar is used for include, but is not limited to, the following: Hatfield Squats, High-Bar Squats, Good Mornings, Calf Raises, Lunges, Split Squats and Front Squats.
Since their inception, SSB’s are more commonplace in training programs and workouts, whether this be powerlifting, strongman, strength & conditioning, prehab/ rehab, even bodybuilding. In short, what was once a speciality bar/ specialist tool has become a staple of many modern day gyms and training regimens.
